Here are some slides to show that some places are within walking distance of the villa. All locations shown are for families, and even though we have only shown a selection, there are many other places to visit locally and further afield.
Only 5 minutes from town, the villa is set in a peaceful location and is surrounded by the 'Enchanted Forest.'
Typically French, the town boasts many excellent bars, restaurants and patisseries and is a 5 minute walk from the villa.
Le Chaos de Rochers, the Chaos of Rocks, is a jumble of hundreds of large boulders below the dammed lake, into which the river vanishes. A 10 m descent down ladders is required to see it again, running rapidly below a dark cave called the Devil's Grotto.
Lost high in the Parc d’Armorique in central Finistère, the village of Huelgoat looks sleepy at first sight, and its lake peaceful. However, descend into the Argent Valley and you suddenly find yourself amidst a mass of magical mossy boulders that have stirred the Breton imagination in fabulous ways.
Annually, there are many local events. The car rally is held annually and features classic cars by the lake side.
Take a walk at almost any time of day and Huelgoat won't disappoint the visitor.
Come down to earth and take a calming walk around the lake, appreciated by fishermen, or wander around the village square, lined with bars and shops, as well as the church. Just outside town, is the Arborétum du Poërop, trails take you on a quick voyage around the world’s continents, via the thousands of trees and shrubs planted here, in a landscape with views over the typical central Finistère countryside.
The lake is ideal for fishing, and boating dring the summer. It's also quite relaxing to walk around the lake and there's a playground for young children on the shore line.
There's an opportunity to eat in the town square and here we see the towns folk preparing a communal 'Hog roast.' You only have to remember to buy a ticket, the food is excellent and the people are friendly and welcoming.
The photo is taken from the villa, looking out across the lake. The house is centrally heated and don't forget about the welcoming fireplace in the lounge.
The villa can be seen from most of the town of Huelgoat. It's in the centre of the picture and surrounded by the forest.
